There's a Flaming Chicken in my Neighborhood

This is not the Firebird in question.

The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on the FP reminded me of something interesting I saw last night while walking the dog.

You see, I walk the dog about two miles around our neighborhood every night. My route takes me past many beigeboxes, bro-trucks and even a couple late model C3s, but the one car that always catches my eye is a certain second-gen Firebird project car.

The car is sitting on jack stands in a garage with parts scattered everywhere. There’s pretty much nothing on the front end (it’s effectively a chassis and a cabin). I haven’t noticed it change much over the last year, but the garage door is always open so I always look to see if he/she/they have made any progress.

I was out on my routine walk last night and I noticed something interesting when I passed the Firebird house. It was still engine-less and up on the jack stands, but the owner had put some chromed rims on it (a poor choice, if you ask me).

While I was contemplating the unusual turn of events, I glanced toward the front of the car. It was a quick glance so I can’t be sure I saw what I thought I saw, but I swear there was a guy standing at the front of the car wearing aviator sunglasses (it was midnight) and a 70s cop-stache. I’ll be damned if he wasn’t wearing a cowboy hat too.

Uh, I don’t know that there is any back story. The screen cap of the Slack channel came from a piece on Jezebel. It’s a reference to Lovitz being in a relationship with a much younger actress.

Just curious. I’m asking you because you and I have exchanged a few comments in the past and I fear looking stupid if I outright ask ForSweden about it.

Oh, no. I don’t think so. I think ForSweden is just trying to be funny by pointing out that Matt took part in a Jezebel poll that was all women.

I guess it’s a bit like pointing at a straight guy who does something slightly effeminate and saying “Ha! Gay!” even though that person isn’t particularly gay nor does doing said activity make them gay.

It’s a dumb joke at best, sophomoric at worst.

Thanks Jake. Also, I note that FlowerGirl jumped in and I don’t want to draw any of her fire. But $kaycog also is there — perhaps that’s why FG wanted to weigh in — and it all was a curiousity to me. How long have you been posting on Oppo?

Also, that Firebird reminds me of a specimen I saw of the same vintage many years ago that had the 6.6L stenciled on the hood scoop and a four-speed manual transmission. My brother and I thought those Firebirds were the coolest .

I've been on Oppo for a couple years. FlowerGirl is good people. My post was pretty tongue-in-cheek. I didn't mean it as any serious critique.
